The Best Wheat Berry Salad Recipe on the Internet: A Nod to Melina Hammer

The Best Wheat Berry Salad Recipe on the Internet: A Nod to Melina Hammer

I found the internet's best wheat berry salad and its loaded with delicious ingredients from top to bottom. Melina Hammer’s creation is an amazing display of color, crunch, tanginess and fattiness. The avocado brings that rich, creamy element that a salad needs while the feta and pickled onion bring a tart freshness to every bite. All these components take this salad beyond amazing to simply incredible. With this salad, you’ll have it all—the crunch of hazelnuts, the richness of feta, the pop and chewiness of the wheat berries, and the of freshness of the radishes. It's a true work of art that is absolutely delicious.

Wheat berries are the hidden star in this salad—those hearty little kernels that are often overlooked are something special and add that protein your body needs to power you on your next hike or home task. Melina’s wheat berry salad does it all. We’re talking chewy, nutty wheat berries toasted just enough to bring out their natural goodness, paired with roasted hazelnuts that give it that perfect crunch. Every bite is balanced and noteworthy. When you toss it all together with the creamy avocado, tangy feta, and the zing of pickled red onions its a real treat. Oh, and let’s not forget those radishes. Whether you’ve got a watermelon radish, a purple daikon, or the classic red, the crunchy freshness brings this salad to life.

I promise, once you’ve tasted wheat berries, you’ll understand why they deserve a place at your table. They’ve got this earthy, chewy bite that is nature's protein in its purest form. As someone who doesn't always go for a salad (I usually have a pretty big appetite), this salad is the real deal. It’s not just delicious, healthy food, it’s an experience of textures and flavors that are executed perfectly. Finishing this meal, you will feel refreshed and full of energy. Also, if you tend to need a little extra to power you through your day,  I'm never opposed to toasting up a slice or two of some rich nutty sour dough to layer with this colorful composition.

If you’ve ever found yourself perplexed at the produce section of your favorite market, all you need are a few ingredients. I'll link here to her original post so you can get all the ingredients on your next trip!

So here’s my invitation to you: Give it a try. Gather your ingredients, give it a little time, and share it with your family.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, swap in your own favorite ingredients. Maybe some roasted beets, or a handful of chopped mint for a little extra zing. The sky’s the limit, but Melina’s original recipe? That’s where the magic begins.
